This month flew by! Gwyneth is growing well: She is 13 pounds (81st percentile for her height), 23 inches long (75th percentile), and has a 16 in head circumference (90th percentile). She didn't enjoy her 2 month vaccinations, but I'm breathing a sigh of relief that she has some protection against more serious illnesses. Her little legs are sore, and she turned a lovely shade of maroon when they stuck her for the first time. It definitely broke my heart to see her in that kind of pain. Fortunately, nursing her right after calmed her down, and she spent most the rest of the day napping.

At her appointment, we also discovered that her heart murmur is still present. That is definitely disappointing since we drove all the way to Seattle and was told it was gone. Daniel and I were nervous when we went to the Cardiologist since Gwen screamed the entire time he tried to listen to her heart, but we figured he was the expert and would know best. I guess we were wrong. Our Dr. said if it is still present at 6 months, she will send us back to Seattle to get it checked out again. We are certainly hoping it goes away by then.
This month we got our first smiles and coos. It's amazing how much better you feel as a parent once those start showing up. I think the toothless grins are one of my favorite things about having a baby. She definitely gives Daniel more smiles and sometimes it sounds like she's having a full on conversation with him. She's already wrapping him around her little fingers and Daniel has mentioned that he's in trouble when it comes time to start telling her "no."

Gwen and I were battling thrush for 3 out of the 4 weeks this month. I was surprised she even had it, but I guess her thick milk tongue was not just a milk tongue. She absolutely hated the medicine: it made her gassy, and she screamed every time we gave her a dose (which was 4 times a day!). I finally started taking a washcloth to her tongue once or twice a day to scrape some of the crud off and it was only when I started doing that that we saw improvement. I'm hoping we don't have any more issues with thrush; it was a pain to treat it, and I definitely don't like making my little girl cry.

The sleep situation is better. I'm not having to sit up and hold her all night long, but she's still having to sleep right next to me. Instead of having her in the bed, though, we decided to invest in an arms reach cosleeper. She's still not too fond of it, but it at least allows us both to get some rest throughout the night without having to sacrifice safety. A friend of mine sent me her snuza alarm as well, so that gives me peace of mind knowing if she stops breathing during the night an alarm will sound. We've had a couple false alarms (while I was awake and nursing her!), but I was glad to know it works.
Tummy time is going well! She has such wonderful head control, and doesn't immediately start crying once she is put down. She's even rolled herself over once on accident. She is so eager to move around and keep up with her brother!
Big brother, Lucas, goes to the base Child Development Center twice a week so I have a couple days a week where I can just spend time with Gwen. It's nice to get the one on one time with her like I had with Lucas. It also allows him some much needed interaction instead of always wondering if he can play with me depending on whether or not Gwen needs me.
It really is neat to see her becoming more aware of the environment around her. She definitely recognizes voices, and the one voice she loves to follow is Lucas'. I can tell that she is already so in love with her big brother, and I can see her trying to follow him around when they're both bigger.

Gwyneth and Lucas gained a new cousin this month as well! Gwen was up and nursing when I got the text message that Wyatt had arrived. Aunt Michelle was a trouper and delivered him all natural at 3 in the morning! We are so excited to welcome Wyatt into the world, and we can't wait to meet him sometime this year.

We had some gorgeous weather this past month which allowed us to go for lots of walks to the park and around the neighborhood. She really enjoys the fresh air, and so do I for that matter. The trees are starting to bloom around town, which doesn't make our allergies happy, but they sure are pretty. We're also looking forward to going to the Tulip Festival in town a few weeks from now since we know that Gwen enjoys being outdoors.
Not much else happened this month. We are looking forward to all the adventures next month will hold, so stay tuned! Thanks for reading!
