Gwyneth Month 4

This past month really was a blur, so I'm going to do my best to recount everything that happened with Gwyneth.

She had her 4 month check-up and weighs 16lbs. I can't remember her length and head circumference, but I know she was in the 90th percentile in everything! She didn't like the shots again, and you could tell her legs were sore at the injection sites. She is usually in constant motion, but would cry out ant time she moved her legs. She also go a low grade fever late that night, but overall, I'd say she handled them quite well.

The Dr. didn't hear the heart murmur, either, so we are hoping that means it's gone for good!

Happy Girl who's legs are getting almost too chunky for the bumbo!
We took our first road trip down to Tacoma, Washington, this month. Our neighbors from Guam are stationed there and they were having a "Welcome Home" bbq. It was really nice to see another part of the state, and see Mt. Ranier more up close. Gwen did so well considering it was an almost 3 hour trip. We made sure to split up the time she was in her carseat by taking the ferry, and then checking into our hotel before we headed to the cookout. By 7pm, however, she was done, so we headed back to the hotel and fell asleep. She did awesome on the trip home, too, so we are glad that she's starting to tolerate her carseat for longer periods of time.

Gwen has started trying to roll from her back to her belly, which Lucas didn't do until he hit 6 months! This girl is so interested in everything going on around her, and I really feel like we're going to have our work cut out for us when she truly becomes mobile. She has started jumping in her jumparoo and she has a blast! We love having more options to keep her occupied.

I'll be moving soon!
She has definitely started teething. She blows so many bubbles throughout the day that she's started soaking the front of her shirts. I try to remember to put a bib on her to protect her skin, but most days I forget. She's also started making farting noises with her mouth as she blows the bubbles. It's really quite hilarious; especially when she makes them during prayer at church!

Grandpa Triebold came for a visit this month as well! He hadn't met Gwen yet, so it really was a special trip. Lucas, of course, was excited to spend time with his PaPa, but it didn't take Gwyneth long to realize that my dad was a pretty cool guy to have around. The first couple times he held her, though, she'd look from me to Daniel and back to me, and then get this panicked look on her face like,  "If you're not holding me... WHO IS?!" Then she'd start crying. It was more cute than anything, but after a few days, she really didn't mind Grandpa holding her.

MOPS has gotten better as a result of her tolerating others holding her, too. I actually was able to sit through almost an entire meeting with her being held by my mentor mom. It was so nice to be able to eat breakfast, and listen to the guest speaker without having Gwen as a distraction. I know my mentor mom was really happy to hold her as well. :)

I started putting Gwen's hair up in pony tails/pigtails. She doesn't really care for it, but it's just too adorable not to be patient and work with her to get her hair up.

First Ponytail!
Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, Gwen and I take Lucas to the pool and watch him take swim lessons. He's having a great time, and even though we're just sitting on a bench watching him swim, it's nice to have some one on one time with her. I'm going to look into doing some mommy and me pool time with her once she's 6 months old.

Gwen has decided she doesn't like sitting alone while we eat dinner. Even when my dad was visiting, one of us had to juggle eating and holding her at the same time. I'm thinking it may be time to pull out the high chair and just let her sit in it while we eat. She is always mesmerized by the food on our plate, and has grabbed a handful of it a couple times. Thankfully, she still doesn't quite know what to do with the food, so it doesn't get in her mouth. I'm hoping she stays interested in the food when it comes time to introduce solids. Just a couple months to go!

The last news of this month is that Gwen is no longer the baby of the family. Many people think we're crazy, but we have added a puppy to our clan. The house was just too empty without a furry companion, and Gwen really is interested and loves our new dog Millie. She reaches to pet her and laughs at her when she does something silly. I know the two of them are going to be best buddies since they're basically growing up together.

We have a lot coming up this summer, so keep looking for more blogs! I'll try not to be as late with month 5.
